This residence at Karthikeyapuram was built in 2017 for Mr. Srinivasan flanking an existing family house, the new house was intended to maintain a visual and circulatory connection with the existing one. But also to function as an independent unit if required. The client also desired a dynamic inner space but at the same time wanted the fluidity to be contained in such a manner that while the balcony areas get the extension to the garden and view, the more private areas of family occupation remain secluded and intimate. It was this contradiction, inherent in the brief that determined the characteristic geometry of the house. The exterior and interior finishes are matte white, natural stone cladding and a matching tile cladding establishes a visual connection between the ground and the upper built structure. All wood works were done in Padauk and teak with clear matt polish.
