Situated on a 3,600 sq.ft plot, this Stilt+ three-storeyed residence blends modern architecture with nature, drawing inspiration from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Less is More philosophy. The design reflects the family’s love for travel and their desire for a peaceful retreat that fosters relaxation and well-being after their demanding workdays.

A Modern Retreat with a Touch of Nature -The home’s design focuses on simplicity, open spaces, and the integration of light, air, and nature. Large windows and terraces invite natural light, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. Thoughtfully placed verandahs, corridors, and transition zones create a dynamic rhythm that flows through the house, encouraging relaxation and a seamless connection to the environment.

Subhadharshana embraces the concept of ‘habitat’—not just as a physical space but as a home that exists in harmony with its surroundings. The architects carefully considered the site’s context, nestled among older buildings, ensuring the house blends with the neighborhood while maintaining its own identity. The entryway unfolds to reveal a striking view of the residence, welcoming visitors with its elegant form. A key feature of the design is the integrated clinic space at the front, which allows the doctors to maintain a balance between their professional and personal lives. With its separate entrance from the main road, the clinic ensures privacy while offering direct access to the home. Above the car park, a private semi-outdoor area is designed for family hobbies and leisure, adding versatility to the home’s layout. The upper floors include two additional bedrooms and a spacious double-height living area, offering comfort and privacy for the family. The bedrooms, designed as modular flat-like spaces, ensure that everyone has their own retreat while the living room serves as a cozy gathering space.
