Ambattur Residence

This residence at Ambattur was built in 2019 for Mr. Anandan comprising of the 5bhk green house building with views to swimming pool. Unlike other private houses in Chennai 5 miles away from an affluent suburb of the city. This house dominates its landscape like a classical villa. An opaque even forbidding entrance facade, dynamically asymmetrical but with symmetrical entrance gives way as one moves around the building to the open front. Maintaining a modern and elegant character both internally and externally, this 5 bedroom villa is planned in a manner where the semi-private areas like living and dining areas are clustered together while private areas,i.e,the bedrooms are kept in the first Floor. The dining area also opens into the Pooja area which reflects the order and peace framed within. The individual master bedroom suites, four in number have been given distinctly different aesthetics that echo the user’s individual personalities. Light is give a special consideration as well so that each of the spaces is well-lit receiving natural light. Connectivity of spaces, and open plan as well as privacy balanced in the design, which is layered in multiple levels and connected with external landscape spaces. Each Bedroom suite is complete with its own lounge, private study, walk-in-wardrobe and bathroom facilities. Planters and other design elements have been carefully chosen and placed to enhance the simplicity of the design, while adding character. Two stories up, a sheltering concrete canopy covers the dimensions of the perfectly square plan supported on concrete columns, floats over the wild composition below. Between the ground and the canopy is a double height interpenetrating outside and inside spaces lavishly accommodating the entire villa set up. The whole villa is 5400 sft. Which has a separate swimming pool and Terrace garden. There is a smooth metamorphosis from built to open spaces where functional spaces flowing to landscaped panoramas. A Koi pond and Vertical garden is incorporated within the design to add an element of tranquility and calm to the interiors. Every space of the house is designed in a way that it embodies warmth and comfort of a traditional home with modernity blending in.
