Amu Shivohm Residential Villa – A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Modernity in Chennai
Amu Shivohm is a beautifully refurbished residential villa in Chennai, where traditional charm meets contemporary design. The renovation by Grihalaya Builders seamlessly merges heritage-inspired elements with modern living, creating a space that is both timeless and innovative. The design focuses on creating open, interconnected spaces that interact with nature, enhancing the living experience.
The villa’s architecture is defined by the harmonious use of arches and geometric shapes, blending traditional motifs with modern aesthetics. A standout feature is the bold semicircular glass structure on the facade, which contrasts with the otherwise geometric lines, adding visual interest and a contemporary touch. This design creates a dynamic exterior that still respects its surroundings.
Inside, Amu Shivohm combines luxury with functionality. The use of imported white purple marble throughout the interiors makes the space feel brighter and larger, while a double-height central volume—soaring 23 feet—creates an airy, inviting atmosphere filled with natural light. This central space serves as the heart of the home, drawing the eye upward and enhancing the overall sense of openness.
A key feature of the home is its central gazebo, which includes an integrated water cascade surrounded by lush landscaping. This tranquil space is visible from the living, dining, kitchen, and mezzanine areas, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection that brings nature into the heart of the home. The villa’s interiors are generously proportioned, designed to comfortably accommodate a family of five. Every detail, from the teak woodwork in the pooja room to the brass accents on the main door, has been carefully crafted to blend tradition with luxury. The home is also equipped with modern amenities, including home automation for lighting and water management, as well as active surveillance systems for security.
Sustainability is a key focus of the project, with both on-grid and off-grid solar systems integrated into the villa’s design to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
